On May 3, 2012 (in Hanoi) and May 6, 2012 (in Ho Chi Minh City), Ministry of Health (MOH) organized a ceremony to announce the decision to establish the Evaluation Board for Ethical Issues in Biomedical Research for period 2012-2017 as the preceding MOH Ethics Committee Board has finished their assignment of period 2007-2012

On May 3, 2012 (in Hanoi) and May 6, 2012 (in Ho Chi Minh City), Ministry of Health (MOH)  organized a ceremony to announce the decision to establish the Evaluation Board for Ethical Issues in Biomedical Research for period 2012-2017 as the preceding MOH Ethics Committee Board has finished their assignment of period 2007-2012 and workshop on Guidelines for Conducting Clinical Trials for Flu Vaccines and on Developing Standard Criteria for Clinical Research Units (CRU) in hospitals.

Attending the ceremony were A/Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Kim Tien- Minister of Health, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Cong Khan- Director of Science and Training Department, Prof. Dr. Truong Viet Dung - Chairman and Dr. Nguyen Ngo Quang, M.S. M.D.- Vice Chairman and other members of the Evaluation Board for Ethical Issues in Biomedical Research, specialists of the Science Training Department, representatives from other departments of the Ministry of Health of Vietnam as well as representatives from NGOs and clinical research units.

Ethical aspects of biomedical research are of great importance and attracting much more attention from many departments, organizations and clinical research units. The Ministry of Health of Vietnam is gradually improving the review and evaluation of ethical aspects of biomedical research, which is made by upgrading the Ethics Committee to the Evaluation Board for Ethical Issues in Biomedical Research with the aim of strengthening the independence in his review function, said Prof. Dr. Nguyen Cong Khan.

The Minister of Health has directed the construction and development of clinical trial system in Vietnam to meet international standard.
